Job summary

Compas Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead capacity management and optimisation across a major Australian Government ICT environment. The role focuses on utilisation analytics, performance monitoring and demand forecasting across platforms including VMware, OpenStack, OpenShift, Linux and Windows Server, with an emphasis on cost efficiency.

The successful candidate will operate in a hybrid Canberra-based setting (with some relocation and travel to other Australian cities

Qualifications

Experience in enterprise ICT capacity management, infrastructure performance monitoring and utilisation analysis.
Proficient in demand forecasting and capacity modelling, including 95th percentile reporting.
Knowledge of workload trends, thresholds and governance documentation.
Experience with leading cross‑functional teams and communicating with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead infrastructure capacity assessments and baseline utilisation profiling across CPU, memory, storage, network and transaction metrics.
Identify and prioritise CPU right-sizing opportunities across VMware, OpenStack, Power Server, Solaris, OpenShift and related platforms.
Develop capacity optimisation recommendations, implementation plans and monitoring processes to improve performance, resilience and cost efficiency.
Coordinate with technical teams and senior stakeholders to implement capacity changes and establish ongoing reporting and governance.
