Job summary

The Network is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support a government department in maintaining and optimising its enterprise infrastructure, including VMware, Windows Server, Commvault, and hybrid cloud.

This hands-on role requires NV1 clearance, Canberra-based, a 12-month contract with potential extension, and a focus on automation, security, and reliable infrastructure services.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with enterprise infrastructure administration.
• Strong VMware knowledge including vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
• Experience with Commvault backup and recovery.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain and troubleshoot VMware virtualisation environments, including vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.

• Support enterprise backup and recovery solutions, particularly Commvault, ensuring infrastructure resilience and recoverability.
• Automate infrastructure tasks using PowerShell, scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Investigate complex infrastructure issues, implement security improvements and optimise system performance.

Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience with VMware, Windows Server and enterprise infrastructure administration.
• Experience with Commvault backup and recovery technologies.
• Solid understanding of Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy and Windows infrastructure services.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring, patching, vulnerability remediation and operational troubleshooting.
• Strong scripting and automation capabilities, particularly PowerShell.
• Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments and the ability to provide technical guidance to stakeholders.
