Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Information Security Operations Engineer to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

The Senior Information Security Operations Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that information assets and associated technology, applications, systems, infrastructure and processes are adequately protected in the digital ecosystem in which QUT operates.This position oversees a variety of cybersecurity and IT risk management activities to ensure the achievement of university outcomes where the business process is dependent on technology. In addition, the role is responsible for providing input to the development and evaluation of new strategies to address cyber security risks.

What you need to succeed

• Education, certification, training, and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with subsequent experience in providing Information Security support services in a complex environment. This should include experience in at least three or more of the following expertise: system administration, cloud administration (AWS/ Azure), communication and network security, software development security, identity and access management, security architecture and engineering.
• Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience with security tools and controls including Splunk Enterprise Security, technical security controls such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint detection and remediation, email protection.
• Proven DevOps experience for system integration and Security Operations and Automation using knowledge of common programming or scripting languages.
• Excellent analytical skills combined with current knowledge of existing and evolving Information Security issues and the threat landscape, with an ability to transform findings into actionable risk items.
• Proven experience in client relationship management, demonstrating insight to client needs and in assisting them in the formation of relevant IT security solutions.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate information security and risk-related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences at various hierarchical levels.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
