Job summary

University of Queensland is seeking a Senior Community Engagement Officer for the UQ Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, based in Rockhampton. The role supports the RISE research program, collaborating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to translate research into impactful health messages.

The position is full-time or part-time (80–100%), fixed-term up to 2 years, with travel across Central Queensland and to Brisbane.

Qualifications

Experience in research translation or stakeholder engagement in healthcare or health research services.
Experience delivering communication outcomes across online services, publications and stakeholder engagement activities.
Ability to travel between community locations, including two to three days per week, with travel to Brisbane; vehicle provided for approved travel.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and facilitate the co-design and implementation of interventions with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and community coalitions in line with the RISE protocol.
Build trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, community organisations, healthcare workers and research partners.
Develop accessible written and visual content for websites, brochures, newsletters, social media and other publications, translating research into clear health messages.
Support stakeholder and consumer events, respond to information requests, and help maintain strategic relationships with organisations involved in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and STI communication.
