Job summary

Stantec Melbourne is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to lead delivery of hydraulic building services from concept through construction for a diverse portfolio including data centres, healthcare and high-rise developments.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Fire, Sustainability and other teams to ensure compliant, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in hydraulic building services consulting.
• Strong technical capability across hydraulic systems design and construction methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and sound decision-making ability.
• Ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• A passion for mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Design and delivery of hydraulic building services systems including water supply, sewerage, stormwater, recycled water, and gas services.
• Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity while maintaining technical and commercial outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, design documentation, and tender submissions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Electrical, Mechanical, Fire, Sustainability and other Building Services disciplines.
• Conduct site inspections, provide construction-phase support, assess defects, and respond to contractor RFIs.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, NCC requirements, and client specifications.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and contribute to a high-performing team culture.
