We’re known for our collaborative “One Team” culture and our commitment to working closely with clients and construction partners to achieve exceptional results. Our open, inclusive environment ensures people are valued, supported and able to thrive. By joining KBR, you become part of a team that works together, shares common values and is united in delivering great outcomes.

The Opportunity:

We are on the hunt for an experienced Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join our growing team and support the design and delivery of diverse and challenging projects across Australia. With a strong focus on defence, buildings and infrastructure, you will work on significant projects throughout NSW, VIC, SA and WA, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and practical engineering solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design and coordination of hydraulic systems including potable water, wastewater, stormwater, medical and industrial gases, and liquid fuel systems across commercial, industrial, transport and Defence infrastructure projects. You will apply sound engineering judgement to solve complex design challenges, manage competing requirements and deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to designers and developing engineers while contributing to project performance, efficiency and technical excellence. Your expertise will play a key role in the successful delivery of projects and the continued growth of our long-term client partnerships.

Joining our team means becoming part of a collaborative and forward-thinking environment where innovation is encouraged. As we continue to explore the integration of virtual reality, artificial intelligence and digital engineering technologies, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your skills, contribute to new ways of delivering projects and help shape the future of engineering design.

Who are you?

As a Senior Hydraulic Engineer in our buildings team, you will have experience in detailed designs, front end engineering design (FEED), consulting or complex engineering projects from the defence, commercial, education, water, industrial, transport or infrastructure sectors.

You will work with OEMs on product selection and installation but have the ability to customise and innovate, delivering unique solutions in challenging environments. Exposure to condition assessments, data sheets, safety processes, national standards and regulation will also be vital.

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Design experience with knowledge of local industry standards and local codes across buildings, infrastructure or defence projects.
  • Substantial engineering design experience, ideally in a consultancy environment.
  • Proven ability to work in engineering teams and manage projects to scope, budget and program.
  • Advanced skills with Revit are preferred.
  • You hold a hydraulic accreditation or have eligibility to apply for this accreditation.
  • Hold an accredited Bachelor of mechanical/civil engineering or hydraulic diploma.
  • Full Australian Working Rights and ability to possess Security Clearance
At KBR, we value you – here’s how.

While our people are busy delivering leading science, technology, and engineering solutions, we’re committed to providing them with a supportive, trusting environment and benefits that enable them to thrive and continue doing what they do best.

Benefits include:
  • Industry leading salaries reviewed annually.
  • 20 Days of annual leave per year + the ability to accrue an additional 8 hours every 4 weeks (33 days in total)
  • Flexible work arrangements (start/finish times, WFH, Flex time)
  • Salary packaging and novated leases
  • Paid professional membership fees
  • Employee stock purchase plans
  • Personal career development plans
  • Growth and promotion opportunities
  • Great office environment with fantastic facilities
  • Access to health benefits programs
