Job summary

KBR - Kellogg Brown & Root Pty Ltd in Adelaide is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the delivery of mechanical design packages for major infrastructure projects across Defence, Water, Resources and Industrial sectors.

You will define scopes, develop practical engineering solutions, mentor designers and work with multidisc teams to ensure safe, compliant and innovative outcomes for our clients in Australia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering detailed design projects for infrastructure, industrial, water, resources or Defence sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian engineering standards and industry practices.
  • Experience with client interactions and multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and contributing to the delivery of mechanical engineering design packages.
  • Defining project scopes and developing practical engineering solutions.
  • Preparing concept, preliminary and detailed designs for mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Designing infrastructure including pumping stations, treatment facilities, industrial plants and process systems.
  • Developing technical specifications and selecting equipment and materials.

  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to designers and developing engineers.
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

Position Overview:

At KBR, our Adelaide team is trusted to deliver some of Australia's most complex and impactful infrastructure projects across Defence, Water, Resources and Industrial markets. Backed by a collaborative national network of technical specialists, we work together to solve challenging engineering problems and create solutions that leave a lasting legacy.

We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to take a lead role on diverse projects, influence technical outcomes, mentor emerging talent, and work alongside some of the industry's most experienced professionals in a culture that genuinely values innovation, collaboration and career development.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading and contributing to the delivery of mechanical engineering design packages

Defining project scopes and developing practical engineering solutions

Preparing concept, preliminary and detailed designs for mechanical and hydraulic systems

Designing infrastructure including pumping stations, treatment facilities, industrial plants and process systems

Developing technical specifications and selecting appropriate equipment and materials

Coordinating with construction contractors and supporting project delivery activities

Providing technical guidance and mentorship to designers and developing engineers

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions

Contributing to design innovation, standardisation and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience Required:

We're looking for a collaborative and technically capable engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges and delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification

Experience delivering detailed design projects within infrastructure, industrial, water, resources or Defence environments

Strong knowledge of Australian engineering standards and industry practices

Experience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams

Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills

Highly Regarded Experience:

Hydraulic modelling experience

Pipe stress analysis experience

Experience using software such as CFD, FATHOM, WaterGEMS or CAESAR II

Applicants must:

Be an Australian Citizen

Be eligible to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence Security Clearance

Be ITAR eligible - As this team supports Defence programs, access to certain information and technologies is restricted to ITAR-eligible personnel.
