Job summary

Metrotrain in Melbourne is seeking a Human Factors and Systems Integration Lead to direct human factors and systems thinking across project delivery. You will apply HF methods to technical and safety challenges and provide HF expertise to inform and evaluate change activities within the franchise.

This max-term, part-time role based at Collins Street offers a hands-on opportunity to shape risk management, design decisions and system integration, with a focus on continuous improvement and lessons

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Systems Engineering, Organisational Psychology or a recognised related field.
• Strong understanding or experience in HF Engineering, HF Integration, HF Assurance, Systems Engineering and Change Management in safety-critical industries.
• Knowledge of relevant HF standards, OHS Act 2004 and Rail Safety National Law and Regulations.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience applying HF methods and systems thinking in a rail environment or related safety-critical industries.
• Experience delivering and influencing HF and change activities to meet project outcomes, particularly in the delivery phase.

Responsibilities

• Carry out HF analysis and provide advice on delivery and post-implementation stages of projects, change activities and network strategy initiatives with a HF and systems thinking lens.
• Ensure HF impacts at a system level are captured and integrated into design and change decision-making; provide evidence-based HF risk advice.
• Manage, verify and validate HF requirements to align with system integration and system engineering approaches.
• Provide technical input to hazard and risk analysis, design and other technical/user-reference working groups regarding HF and system-level changes.
• Monitor and advise on HF priorities based on HF/RSI analyses and material risks at strategic levels.
• Develop and conduct HF training and awareness activities related to HF and systems thinking.
• Actively contribute to continuous improvement and change initiatives to enhance HF throughout the business.
