Job summary

Lead Group, a commercial contractor operating across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, seeks a senior hands-on HSEQ professional to support multiple live projects in South East Queensland.

You will work with Project Managers, Site Managers and subcontractors to manage risk, ensure compliance and drive practical HSEQ improvements on site, with travel between projects across the region.

Qualifications

• Experience in WHS/HSEQ within commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety legislation and site compliance.
• Experience reviewing SWMS, audits and incident management.
• Ability to work with site teams, subcontractors and senior staff.
• Excellent documentation, reporting and systems capability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Review SWMS and monitor high‑risk construction activities.
• Support project teams with safety and compliance matters daily.
• Manage incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain HSEQ documentation, registers and reporting systems.
• Support site inductions, pre-starts and toolbox meetings.
• Coach Site Managers and subcontractors on HSEQ practices.
• Assist client and internal audits and identify improvements.
• Travel between sites across Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

Job description

An established commercial contractor delivering projects across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

The business operates across commercial, government and defence construction and has a strong pipeline of work throughout South East Queensland.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on HSEQ position supporting multiple live projects across the region.

Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and subcontractors, you will help project teams manage risk, maintain compliance and consistently apply the company's HSEQ standards.

This is not a purely office-based systems role. You will spend significant time on site, building relationships with delivery teams and driving practical improvements.

Responsibilities will include:

• Conducting site inspections, audits and compliance reviews


• Reviewing SWMS and monitoring high-risk construction activities


• Supporting project teams with day-to-day safety and compliance matters


• Managing incident investigations, corrective actions and close-out


• Maintaining HSEQ documentation, registers and reporting systems


• Supporting site inductions, pre-starts and toolbox meetings


• Coaching Site Managers, supervisors and subcontractors


• Supporting client, internal and external audits


• Identifying and implementing practical HSEQ improvements


• Travelling between projects across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast

About You
You will be an experienced construction safety professional who can operate independently while working closely with site-based delivery teams.
You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a WHS, HSE or HSEQ role within commercial construction


• Strong knowledge of construction safety legislation and site compliance


• Experience reviewing SWMS, conducting audits and managing incidents


• The confidence to work with site teams, subcontractors and senior project staff


• Strong documentation, reporting and systems capability


• Experience using HammerTech or a similar HSEQ platform


• A practical, approachable and solutions-focused style


• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or an equivalent qualification


• A current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout South East Queensland

Experience delivering government, defence or other highly regulated construction projects will be highly regarded.
