Job summary

Austal Defence Australia is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to provide proactive HR support and strategic advisory services across assigned business areas. You will partner with leaders to deliver people solutions, manage industrial relations matters, and drive HR initiatives aligned with Austal's policies, values and legal obligations.

The role requires strong stakeholder management, coaching capability, and extensive knowledge of employment legislation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business or related field (Bachelor's minimum).
• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation and stakeholder management.
• Ability to coach, mentor and influence leaders at all levels.
• Highly developed report writing, policy development and technical writing skills.
• Experience implementing HR strategies, programs, policies and training.
• 4+ years in a Senior HRBP or equivalent HR leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of employment legislation and industrial relations.
• Experience interpreting and applying industrial instruments.
• Experience developing, implementing and reviewing HR policies and people initiatives.
• Eligible for Defence Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive HR support and advice to leaders and employees across assigned business areas.
• Provide specialist HR and IR guidance, case management support and guidance to managers.
• Ensure line managers are aware of and adhere to Austal policies, procedures and legislation.
• Consult and support line managers on grievances and disciplinary issues; lead complex investigations where required.
• Support HR cyclical activities including performance review programs, succession planning and workforce planning.
• Implement approved HR-related programs and initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HR strategies and programs.
• Partner with L&D to develop and maintain HR training materials.
• Support annual remuneration reviews and salary benchmarking.
