Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU is seeking an experienced Head Chef / Senior Sous Chef to lead a multi-faceted hospitality kitchen in South Australia. The role focuses on day-to-day food preparation, menu development, kitchen systems, team performance and cost control across various events and service environments.

The successful candidate will drive food quality, staff leadership and consistent dining experiences for restaurant service, functions, conferences and weddings.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as Head Chef or experienced Sous Chef.
• Strong background in commercial hospitality kitchens.
• Experience in hotels, resorts, restaurants or comparable hospitality operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage kitchen teams.
• Proven experience with menu planning and food preparation.
• Knowledge of food costing, purchasing and stock management.
• Understanding of HACCP, foodsafety and WHS requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple food service requirements simultaneously.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to train and develop junior and senior kitchen staff.
• Commercial understanding of kitchen operations and performance.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Professional employment history that can be supported by relevant experience documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily kitchen operations and maintain consistent service standards.
• Supervise, train and develop kitchen team members.
• Plan and execute menus appropriate to season and guest requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency.
• Coordinate kitchen preparation with Food & Beverage and Event teams.
• Manage food purchasing, stock levels and inventory control.
• Monitor food costs and minimise waste.
• Prepare staff rosters and manage kitchen labour requirements.
• Maintain HACCP, food safety and WHS standards.
• Support weddings, conferences, functions and events.
• Maintain a clean, organized and professional kitchen environment.
