Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU seeks an experienced Head Chef to take ownership of a busy hospitality kitchen in South Australia. The senior chef will lead a kitchen team, uphold high food and service standards, and manage day-to-day operations while contributing to ongoing menu development.

The successful candidate will oversee kitchen performance, food quality, stock and cost management, and compliance with food safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in a busy hospitality kitchen.
• Experience in pubs/hotels/clubs or high-volume casual dining advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train and develop the kitchen team.
• Manage the day-to-day kitchen operation and service.
• Maintain consistent food quality, presentation and portion control.
• Plan and coordinate food preparation and kitchen service.
• Develop menus, daily specials and seasonal offerings.
• Manage kitchen rosters and labour requirements.
• Monitor food costs, wage costs and overall kitchen expenses.
• Order ingredients and maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Conduct regular stock control and minimise food wastage.
• Ensure recipes, yields and portions sizes are followed consistently.
• Maintain high standards of foods safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment and work areas are maintained appropriately.
• Work closely with venue management to improve kitchen operations.
