Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Australia’s Mine Water team in Perth seeks an experienced Senior Groundwater Modeller.

You will lead conceptual, analytical and numerical groundwater modelling for mining projects, with responsibility for dewatering, slope depressurisation, seepage, tailings and mine closure. You will calibrate models, perform uncertainty analyses, interpret data, and develop automation tools in Python while mentoring junior professionals and engaging clients to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience or Engineering with hydrogeology emphasis.
• Postgraduate qualifications in hydrogeology or related field desirable.
• 10+ years hydrogeological experience with groundwater modelling.
• Experience using FEFLOW/MODFLOW, PEST/FePEST, Leapfrog and GIS.
• Strong report writing, presentation and client communication skills.
• Project and financial management abilities; registrations or progression toward it.

Responsibilities

• Develop groundwater flow models for mine dewatering, slope depressurisation and closure planning.
• Calibrate models and perform sensitivity/uncertainty analyses with PEST/FePEST.
• Interpret aquifer tests, maps and spatial data for robust hydrogeological conclusions.
• Create data-processing and automation tools using Python for efficiency.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, work plans, schedules and budgets.
• Present findings to clients and internal teams; manage multiple projects.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to high-quality technical deliverables.
• Build client relationships and contribute to business development.
