Job summary

Renewable Energy Services Australia Pty Ltd in Thornton, NSW, is seeking a Senior Grid Connection Engineer to own HV connection studies from concept through energisation and drive the connection agreement process.

You will lead the technical studies, verify field outcomes, manage DNSP/TNSP interfaces, oversee on-site verification and commissioning, and mentor junior engineers in a growing renewables sector.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering degree; CPEng and/or NER registration (or close).
• 5+ years power systems/grid connection experience with DNSP/TNSP delivery.
• Strong knowledge of NER Ch.5 and relevant AS/NZS standards for grid connections.
• Full study suite and field testing capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering to secure connection agreements for HV imports/exports (DNSP/TNSP/AEMO).
• Produce and sign off connection study packages (protection, earthing, power quality, fault level, load flow).
• Manage GPS and R0/R1/R2 compliance through modelling and validation.
• Negotiate technical schedules of connection agreements with network operators.
• Perform/oversee on-site verification & commissioning (soil resistivity, earth grid, protection relays).
• Produce SLDs, protection schematics, earthing layouts and study reports to DNSP/AEMO standard.
• Act as technical authority and mentor junior/medium engineers.

RESA Group delivers testing, commissioning and O&M across the renewable energy sector, and demand has never been stronger. We're growing our grid connection capability and looking for a Senior Grid Connection Engineer to take new HV connections from application all the way to connected.

This is a rare hands-on senior role for an engineer who can produce the technical studies AND verify them in the field — someone who owns the connection agreement process from concept to commissioning.

What you'll do

• Lead the engineering to secure connection agreements with DNSPs/TNSPs (and AEMO where applicable) for new HV connections — import, export, or both
• Produce and sign off connection study packages: protection, earthing, power quality, fault level, load flow, frequency injection and (larger plant) stability/dynamic studies
• Manage GPS and R0/R1/R2 compliance through modelling, validation and commissioning
• Negotiate technical schedules of connection agreements with network operators
• Perform/oversee on-site verification & commissioning — soil resistivity testing, earth grid/GPR verification, protection relay commissioning, power quality measurement, model verification
• Produce SLDs, protection schematics, earthing layouts and study reports to DNSP/AEMO standard
• Act as technical authority and mentor junior/medium engineers

What you'll bring

• Electrical Engineering degree; CPEng and/or NER registered (or close)
• 5+ years power systems / grid connection with proven DNSP/TNSP project delivery
• Deep knowledge of NER Ch.5 (5.3.9, S5.2.5), AS/NZS 4777, AS 2067, AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 60909, IEEE 80 / EG-0
• Full study suite + field testing capability
• DIgSILENT PowerFactory (essential); PSS®E / PSCAD; SKM / ETAP; CDEGS highly regarded

Highly regarded: BESS/hybrid plant, AEMO registration, multiple DNSP guidelines
