Job summary

Phillip Riley is seeking an experienced Grid Connection Manager to support the development and delivery of a portfolio of renewable energy projects across Australia. You will oversee grid connection activities from feasibility to commissioning and work with NSPs, consultants and internal teams.

The role requires proven experience with AEMO and NSPs, leading connection processes (5.3.4A, R1/R2), and familiarity with PSSE/PSCAD.

Qualifications

Job description

An established renewable energy developer is seeking an experienced Grid Connection Manager to join its growing team, supporting the development and delivery of a portfolio of renewable energy projects across Australia.

You will be responsible for managing grid connection activities across the project lifecycle, from early-stage feasibility and concept development through to connection applications, and commissioning across a portfolio of utility scale projects.

The Role

As Grid Connection Manager, you will take ownership of grid-related matters across the development, construction and operational phases of renewable energy projects. You will work closely with internal development, engineering and construction teams, while managing relationships with NSPs, consultants and contractors

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead grid connection activities from project feasibility and concept design through to operations, acting as the technical point of contact for NSPs and relevant stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with grid consultants, technical advisors and suppliers, including defining scopes of work, reviewing deliverables and ensuring technical documentation meets project requirements.
• Support project development teams through the grid connection application process and own the relationship with AEMO and NSPs
• Contribute to the technical due diligence of new project opportunities, working alongside development and engineering teams.

About You

You will be an experienced grid connection or power systems professional with a strong understanding of the technical, commercial and regulatory considerations associated with renewable energy projects.

• Proven experience and relationships with AEMO and NSPs
• Experience leading the grid connection process and managing consultants
• Proven experience taking projects through the connection process including 5.3.4A approval, R1 and R2
• Whilst this is not a technical modelling role, a strong understanding of PSSE and PSCAD is highly desirable
