Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies seeks a Senior GNC Engineer to design and implement flight-critical software for Australian rocket systems. You’ll lead a team across vehicle avionics, software, and mission operations, developing control models, simulations, and robust algorithms to ensure reliable flight.

You will contribute to trajectory design, validation, and tool development, with a path toward leadership and system-level collaboration within a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics or Aerospace / Aeronautical / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM degree.
• 4+ years of experience in GNC, Flight Software or robotics design engineering.
• Proven ability to lead and collaborate in a fast-paced team environment.
• Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or other high-level languages.
• Proven experience with C++, C or similar low-level languages.
• Experience with git workflows or equivalent version control systems.
• Experience working within a Systems Engineering framework.
• Experience with software verification and validation, and CI environments.
• Ability to obtain NV1 Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop linear and nonlinear models of control system plant dynamics and effectors for launch vehicles.
• Iterate and improve flight algorithm stack for navigation, guidance and control.
• Improve tools, automation, and analytical pipelines for design, analysis, and operations.
• Analyze performance, stability and robustness of flight algorithms.
• Design and optimize launch vehicle trajectories.
• Develop simulation and visualization tools.
• Use numerical methods to propagate uncertainty models (Monte Carlo).
• Conduct analyses and design studies for future vehicles in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Characterize environments for launch vehicles (wind, space radiation).
• Apply data analysis to validate models from test data.
