Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical leadership across residential, transport, and infrastructure projects in Australia. The role involves geotechnical investigations, site characterisation, and detailed design support from start to near completion.

Based in Sydney with flexible work options, you will mentor juniors and help win new work while delivering high-quality reports and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with geotechnical electives.
• Approximately 5 years' experience in a consulting environment or senior engineer recognition.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as OpenGround, GeoStudio, PLAXIS, Rocscience, CIRCLY and AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication, project management, and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate geotechnical investigations, field programs, site testing, and data acquisition.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, and design documentation.
• Deliver geotechnical assessments and design solutions for foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, pipelines, and slope stability.
• Provide technical review and quality assurance to ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Lead and contribute to preparation of proposals.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and resources to achieve outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to pursuits.
• Mentor and support development of junior engineers.
