Job summary

Catalyst Metals Limited in Western Australia is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical engineering activities across underground and surface mining operations on a 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth.

Reporting to the Technical Services leadership team, you will drive ground control strategies, support mine planning, mentor junior engineers and ensure safe, efficient and profitable mining outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in Geotechnical, Mining or Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 6-10+ years' experience in underground hard rock geotechnical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, ground support design and ground control management.
• Experience supporting mine planning, production and operational teams.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software including Deswik and the Rocscience Suite.
• Sound understanding of WA mining legislation and safety requirements.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop others.
• Current C Class Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical engineering activities across underground and surface mining operations.
• Develop, implement and improve ground control strategies, systems and the Ground Control Management Plan.
• Manage geotechnical risks through assessments, investigations, hazard management and performance monitoring.
• Provide technical input to mine design, planning and operational decision-making.
• Oversee ground support design, excavation stability, geotechnical mapping, structural interpretation and seismic monitoring.
• Manage geotechnical data, reporting, QA/QC processes and compliance requirements.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers while promoting geotechnical best practice across the site.
