Aurelia Metals Limited is a NSW-based gold and base metals company operating Peak and Federation mines and the Great Cobar Project. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer provides technical leadership across underground operations, shaping geotechnical strategy and ground control across multiple orebodies and life stages.

You will mentor teams, perform risk assessments, review mine designs and support safe production decisions, with exposure to remnant mining and seismic conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related field.
• Significant geotechnical experience in underground mining environments.
• Proven mentoring and guidance of junior engineers.
• Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams.
• Experience with geotechnical design, QA/QC and ground control systems.
• Proficiency with Rocscience, Dips, UNWEDGE; Deswik CAD is a bonus.
• Clear communicator with solid technical reporting and presentations.

About the role

As our Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across Aurelia's underground operations at Peak, Federation and the Great Cobar. This is a rare opportunity to shape geotechnical strategy across multiple orebodies, mining methods and stages of mine life while working closely with operational and technical leaders.

You’ll play a key role in ground control management, geotechnical risk assessment, mine design reviews and operational decision-making. Working across both established and growing operations, you’ll influence how we manage geotechnical performance, support safe production outcomes and help guide the next generation of geotechnical professionals.

The role offers broad exposure to remnant mining, seismic ground conditions, major underground infrastructure, mine expansion projects and narrow-vein stoping environments, providing the variety and technical challenge that experienced geotechnical engineers seek. You’ll have the opportunity to mentor site geotechnical teams, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help shape the future direction of our geotechnical function.

8/6, 12 hours (Dayshift only)

Peak Mine, Cobar NSW

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field
• Significant geotechnical experience in an underground mining environment
• Proven experience mentoring, supporting, and guiding junior engineers or technical staff
• Strong collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
• Skilled in geotechnical design, QA/QC, and ground control systems
• Proficient in Rocscience suite, Dips, or UNWEDGE; experience with Deswik CAD is an advantage
• Confident and clear communicator with well-developed technical reporting and presentation skills
• Committed to fostering a positive, inclusive safety culture and promoting continuous improvement
