Job summary

The Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) in Western Australia invites applications for a GIS Specialist who will develop, maintain and implement GIS applications to support internal and external information needs.

You will capture and manage dangerous goods spatial data, investigate anomalies, assist with licensing information, and maintain mine plan registers while delivering accurate cartographic and geospatial outputs.

Qualifications

• Experience with GIS applications and spatial data management.
• Ability to capture and maintain dangerous goods storage data.
• Analytical mindset for spatial data integration and enquiries.
• Experience assessing information needs for dangerous goods licensing.
• Experience managing mine plan registers.
• Ability to conduct historical research using mine plans.

Responsibilities

• Develops, maintains and implements GIS applications to meet internal and external customer information needs.
• Captures and maintains data on dangerous goods storage sites in a spatial context to ensure the validity of the spatial reference for sites.
• Investigates and analyses anomalies with the integration of spatial data and responds to spatial enquiries.
• Assists in determining the information needs for dangerous goods licensing activities and analyses acquires and customises geospatial data to support these activities.
• Manages the mine plan register and ensures the integrity of the information.
• Undertakes searches and investigates cartographic and digital information to respond to queries on mine plans.
• Conducts historical research for customers using mine plans and other Departmental resources.
