Job summary

World Minerals and Resources Pty Ltd (WMR) in Ballarat, Victoria, seeks a Senior Geologist to lead gold and mineral sands exploration programs across Victoria. The role involves designing, managing and delivering on-ground exploration with regular field work across Stawell Corridor and nearby project areas.

You will build 3D geological models, interpret stratigraphy, supervise drilling (RC, diamond, aircore) and coordinate field crews, contractors and QA/QC across budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in Geology/Earth Science.
• Strong field program management experience.
• Proficiency in geological data interpretation and reporting.
• Experience with data QA/QC and drilling logging.
• Knowledge of JORC reporting requirements.
• Leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver's license and field campaign availability.
• Mineral sands exploration experience (Murray Basin or similar).
• Experience in Stawell Corridor/Victorian goldfields (Stawell, Ararat, Bendigo, Ballarat).
• Experience with junior or ASX-listed explorers.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and execute on-ground exploration programs, overseeing geophysical integration into programs.
• Design and supervise drilling programs for gold and mineral sands, including collar positioning, logging and sampling protocols.
• Log and interpret drill core and chip samples; maintain data integrity and QA/QC.
• Oversee heavy mineral sampling and laboratory heavy mineral concentrate analysis.
• Manage and integrate geological, geochemical, geophysical and structural datasets to refine and prioritise targets.
• Interpret strandline, palaeo-shoreline and sedimentary environments for mineral sands prospectivity.
• Build and update 3D geological models and interpretations.
• Manage field crews, contractors and drilling service providers.
• Oversee budgets, schedules and program reporting.
• Ensure compliance with exploration licence conditions, environmental and rehabilitation obligations.

World Minerals and Resources Pty Ltd (WMR) is seeking a suitably experienced Senior Geologist to lead and deliver gold and mineral sands exploration programs. Targets already identified across both commodities; on-ground exploration commencing shortly. Ballarat based role, with regular field work across the Stawell Corridor and company project areas in Western Victoria.

Key responsibilities

Plan, manage and execute on-ground exploration programs, overseeing geophysical integration to programs

Design and supervise drilling programs for gold (RC, aircore, diamond) and mineral sands (aircore, sonic or similar), including collar positioning, logging and sampling protocols

Log and interpret drill core and chip samples; maintaining data integrity and QA/QC

Oversee heavy mineral sampling, and laboratory heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) analysis

Manage and integrate geological, geochemical, geophysical and structural datasets to refine and prioritise targets

Interpret strandline, palaeo-shoreline and sedimentary environments for mineral sands prospectivity

Build and update 3D geological models and interpretations

Manage field crews, contractors and drilling service providers

Oversee budgets, schedules and program reporting

Ensure compliance with exploration licence conditions, environmental and rehabilitation obligations, as per Earth Resources regulations

About you

Tertiary qualification in Geology or Earth Science

Substantial gold exploration experience, ideally in orogenic or structurally controlled systems

Proven record of managing field programs and drilling campaigns

Proficiency in GIS and geological software (e.g. Micromine, ArcGIS/QGIS or similar)

Sound understanding of JORC Code reporting requirements

Strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills

Current driver's licence and ability to work in the field on a campaign basis

Mineral sands exploration experience, particularly in the Murray Basin or similar settings

Experience in the Stawell Corridor or the broader Victorian goldfields (Stawell, Ararat, Bendigo, Ballarat zones)

Strong structural geology and data interpretation skills preferred but not essential

Experience with junior or ASX-listed explorers

Prior involvement in resource definition or discovery success
