Job summary

Australian Department of Employment and Workplace Relations in Bondi NSW is seeking a Senior Gateway / Network Security Engineer to ensure the department's Internet Gateway is secure, reliable and compliant with government regulations. The role involves configuring and hardening gateway technologies, leading technical projects, and mentoring junior staff.

It may require on-call duties and occasional after-hours work, with the Enterprise Agreement provisions applicable.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in IT or Cyber Security.
Must hold and maintain a current Australian Driver Licence.
Citizenship: Australian citizenship or right to work in Australia as required.
Desirable IT Specialist Designation: Networking, Cyber Security, ITIL and other relevant certifications.

Responsibilities

Design, manage and maintain the department's Internet Gateway securely.
Configure and harden gateway technologies including secure web gateways, email security platforms, DNS, and related monitoring infrastructure.
Lead technical projects and infrastructure upgrades within the Gateway environment.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolution of complex incidents and changes.
Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures and service requests per ISM guidelines.
Manage the Gateway asset lifecycle from procurement to disposal.
Monitor emerging cyber security threats and apply ACSC guidance to strengthen security.
Participate in an on-call roster and occasional after-hours maintenance.
