Job summary

Morningstar Manager Research in Sydney seeks a Senior Analyst to join the team, researching fund managers in Australian and global markets, conducting due diligence, interviewing managers, and writing research reports.

The role includes contributing to thought leadership for clients in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, collaborating with investment management teams, and helping shape Morningstar methodologies, with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of investment-related experience with fund manager due diligence.
• Strong understanding of Australian-based investment managers and equities or fixed income.
• Experience researching multi-asset and unlisted assets (private credit, real estate, infrastructure) valued.
• Excellent communication and ability to write clearly for clients.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Research and critically assess fund managers and their Australian products, with some global exposure.
• Lead fund manager interviews and write succinct rating notes and research reports.
• Provide fund recommendations for advice research clients, internal asset management clients (MIM) and external asset management clients (model portfolio providers).
• Collaborate with investment management and data operations to align with Morningstar views and methodologies.
• Help shape Morningstar methodologies.
• Handle ad-hoc client enquiries and undertake related research tasks.
