NSW Department of Customer Service – Parramatta NSW is seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus to design and build scalable backend systems while contributing to modern frontend experiences. The role supports hybrid work and is part of Revenue NSW initiatives modernising core systems and customer services for NSW.

You will work with Java/Node.js, microservices, RESTful APIs, Spring Boot, and cloud platforms (AWS).

Qualifications

• Extensive backend experience with Java/Node.js and production-grade systems.
• Strong focus on microservices, RESTful APIs, and Spring Boot.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and deploying scalable, secure solutions.
• Hands-on with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Cloud-native development with containers and serverless.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovation and adoption of new technologies to enhance product capabilities.
• Make technical decisions aligned with project goals and architectures.
• Promote best practices in software development, coding standards and design patterns.
• Coach and train less experienced professionals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project needs.
• Write code and develop software components.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality and best practices.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and testing.
