Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer to join a dynamic aerospace team in Australia. The role involves collaborating with a Software Engineering group to plan work, act as Responsible Engineer for Flight Software products, and lead small teams in software design, verification, and production activities.

Applicants should have a strong background in embedded software, C/C++, Python, and experience with RTOS, bare metal environments, and aviation-grade standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Software, Computer Science, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a relevant qualification.
• 5+ years of professional Embedded Software design engineering experience (excluding internships).
• 3+ years of end-to-end Embedded Software product development experience.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a Software Engineering team to deliver products and services, supporting the Lead Flight Software Engineer with technical planning of work packages.
• Serve as a Responsible Engineer for Flight Software products, conducting technical assessments such as concept studies, trade studies, and COTS solution analyses.
• Lead small product teams and contribute to the development of software engineering designs, processes, and activities.
• Follow and participate in product development processes, including requirements definition, design, verification, and validation.
• Support unit and integration testing, operational troubleshooting, and issue resolution, with potential travel to remote sites.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Propulsion, Manufacturing, and Production teams, as well as external suppliers and stakeholders.
