Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a First Nations Engagement Manager to lead Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement across major infrastructure initiatives. You will build trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, Elders and communities, ensuring cultural perspectives are embedded in planning and delivery.

This senior role provides expert guidance to senior leaders and project teams, balancing cultural, strategic and operational priorities with governance of engagement processes.

Qualifications

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity with strong community connections and credibility.
• Experience leading culturally safe engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders, Traditional Owners and organisations.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders, project teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and delivery of culturally safe engagement across capital works and estate initiatives.
• Provide authoritative strategic advice on engagement, risks, partnerships and opportunities.
• Incorporate Country-centred approaches and translate insights into practical actions.
• Provide end-to-end secretariat support for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Panel.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders to embed engagement in project delivery.
