Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a First Nations Engagement Manager to lead Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement across strategic planning, capital works and campus operations within University Infrastructure. You will build trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, Elders and First Nations communities to embed cultural perspectives early in infrastructure decisions.

Working across planning, capital projects and estate operations, you will provide senior-level advisory

Qualifications

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity with strong community ties.
• Experience leading culturally safe engagement with Indigenous communities.
• Ability to advise senior leaders and manage complex issues.
• Experience supporting governance processes and advisory groups.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of culturally safe engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across capital works and estate initiatives.
• Provide authoritative strategic advice to senior leaders on engagement, cultural considerations, risks, partnerships and opportunities.
• Support incorporation of Country-centred approaches into planning, design and estate outcomes through translation of insights into actions.
• Provide end-to-end secretariat support for the Indigenous Advisory Panel relevant to University Infrastructure.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders to embed engagement in project delivery, not just transactional support.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy, ethical standards and commitments.
• Support uplift of First Nations engagement capability across University Infrastructure.
