Job summary

Stantec Australia is seeking a highly experienced Fire Protection Technical Leader to join our Fire Protection Engineering team. The role focuses on leading projects, supervising engineers, and delivering high-quality fire protection solutions for diverse client sectors.

You will collaborate across disciplines, manage key client relationships, and contribute to national strategy while upholding Stantec standards. The position offers senior-level responsibilities across multiple Australian states.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ Fire Protection consulting experience in Building Services.
• Degree qualified, chartered (CPEng), NER listed with FPAS references.
• Holds registration as Professional Engineer (e.g. RPEQ) or be eligible in all states.
• Strong NCC and Australian Standards knowledge for Fire Protection.
• Experience with FEB/FER and Fire Safety Engineering Performance Solutions.
• Familiar with local fire system certification processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage projects from concept to installation and commissioning.
• Provide technical oversight and supervise delivery to ensure quality.
• Represent Stantec to clients and manage external relationships.
• Prepare and present client presentations and reports.
• Delegate tasks to senior/junior engineers and mentor their development.
• Contribute to design discussions and project meetings with stakeholders.
• Monitor deliverables and ensure project timeframes are met.
• Provide input during Construction phase via meetings and site inspections.
• Advise on Fire Protection design including sprinklers, detection, and suppression.
• Assess performance against Building Code Australia requirements.
• Witness fire mode responses and liaise with authorities as needed.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and end users for value outputs.
• Contribute to national Fire Protection Team strategy and culture.
