Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Fire Protection Technical Lead to join our Buildings team in Australia. You will lead fire protection projects, providing technical oversight from concept through commissioning, and manage client relationships on diverse sites including health, education and data centres.

The role demands strong NCC/Australian Standards knowledge, 10+ years’ consulting experience, and professional registration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ Fire Protection consulting experience within Building Services.
• Degree qualified; chartered (CPEng), NER listed and FPAS reference available.
• Hold Professional Engineer registration (e.g. RPEQ) or ability to be registered in any Australian state.
• Strong knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards.
• Experience reviewing FEB/FER and liaising with Fire Safety Engineers for Performance Solutions.
• Experience with Fire Engineered Performance Solutions is advantageous.
• Familiar with local fire system certification processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Data centre experience is highly valuable; HYENA knowledge noted.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage projects from concept to installation and commissioning.
• Provide technical oversight to ensure successful project delivery.
• Represent Stantec externally and manage client relationships.
• Prepare and present client presentations.
• Delegate tasks to senior/junior engineers and mentor them.
• Contribute to design discussions and project meetings.
• Meet project timeframes and keep deliverables on track.
• Input to Construction phase via meetings and site inspections.
• Design Fire Protection Services across complex health, education, data centre and defence projects.
• Prepare drawings/calculations to support design and verify Building Code compliance.
• Witness fire mode responses and advise on system performance.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, builders and end users for best solutions.
• Coordinate with local authorities and clients; participate in project meetings.
• Contribute to national Fire Protection Team strategy and company culture.
