Job summary

Remitly is seeking an experienced financial crime investigator to defend against serious threats, including human trafficking, sanctions evasion, and money laundering. You will lead end-to-end cases, quantify risk typologies, and influence global operations with proactive investigations and detection improvements.

You will work with transaction data, public records, and law enforcement inputs to produce actionable intelligence for senior stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and defensible conclusions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in financial crime investigations, financial intelligence, law enforcement, or intelligence analysis.
• Experience handling complex or proactive investigations, not just alert disposition.
• Hands-on data analysis with the ability to write SQL and work with large datasets.
• Ability to document case work defensibly and clearly for audits or litigation.
• Strong OSINT/public records research skills and written communication.
• Experience interfacing with law enforcement or regulatory bodies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Carry complex, high severity casework end to end, including proactive investigations.
• Build analytic conclusions from limited indicators and map to networks.
• Document investigative work to a standard suitable for audit and litigation.
• Escalate time-sensitive findings with the necessary context for decision-makers.
• Develop typologies and detection requirements in collaboration with partners.
• Analyze large transaction data sets to identify patterns and networks.
• Produce written assessments and briefings with clear conclusions and confidence levels.
• Provide subject matter direction to global investigators and oversee detection outcomes.
• Support law enforcement and FIU engagements with referral packages and information sharing.
