Mars Recruitment is partnering with a Sydney-based Financial Services organisation to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant to its Group Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role covers group reporting, statutory accounts, consolidations and year-end audit, within a small but hands-on finance function.

You will work across technical accounting matters, liaise with auditors, and contribute to improving reporting processes while supporting multiple entities.

Qualifications

• Experience in statutory financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Background in financial services, ideally banking/wealth management.
• Experience supporting external audits and preparing working papers.
• Strong Excel modelling and data analysis skills.
• Solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory financial statements for multiple entities with disclosures.
• Assist group consolidations and intercompany transactions.
• Support year-end reporting and liaise with external auditors.
• Handle technical accounting matters including contract assets and revenue recognition.
• Assist with tax calculations, reconciliations and compliance.
• Support impairment assessments, financial analysis and modelling as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls and efficiency.

Senior Financial Accountant - Group Reporting

We're partnering with an established Financial Services organisation in Sydney looking to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant to its Group Finance team on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a broad, hands-on position within a small finance team, offering exposure to group reporting, statutory accounts, consolidations and the year-end audit.

The business is looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, takes ownership of their work and is comfortable working across different areas of financial accounting.

About the role

This is a broad, hands‑on position within a small finance team, offering exposure to group reporting, statutory accounts, consolidations and the year-end audit. Reporting into the senior finance team, you will work on technical accounting matters and support the finance function across multiple areas.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing statutory financial statements for multiple entities, including supporting schedules and disclosures.
• Assisting with group consolidations, intercompany transactions and reporting adjustments.
• Supporting year-end reporting and liaising with external auditors.
• Working on technical accounting matters, including contract assets, revenue recognition and associated valuations.
• Assisting with tax calculations, reconciliations and other compliance requirements.
• Supporting impairment assessments, financial analysis and modelling where required.
• Identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls and efficiencies.

About you

• A background in Financial Services, ideally within banking, wealth management, funds management or a similar environment.
• Strong statutory financial reporting experience, ideally across multiple entities.
• Exposure to group consolidations and intercompany accounting.
• A sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Experience supporting external audits and preparing associated workpapers.
• Strong Excel skills, with exposure to financial modelling or tax accounting advantageous.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved across the broader finance function.
• A background in external audit would be welcomed, although experience developed directly within industry is equally valued.

$160k package including superannuation

12-month fixed-term contract, with potential to extend.
