Sharp & Carter Finance & Accounting Syd is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to support month-end reporting, balance sheet integrity and process improvements within Group Finance. You will drive automation and AI initiatives while ensuring accurate financial statements and timely close.

The role requires strong CA/CPA credentials, 3+ years in financial accounting, and proven experience with intercompany, revenue recognition and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end activities including accruals, prepayments, intercompany, revenue recognition and deferred revenue
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
• Manage relationship with offshore shared services provider and review journals
• Support year-end statutory reporting, disclosures and external audits
• Assist with sustainability reporting and other Group Finance deliverables
• Review trial balances for accurate reporting and controls
• Drive process improvements, automation and AI initiatives across finance activities

About the Company

Our client is a leading Australian tech business with a strong market presence and a continued focus on innovation, technology and operational excellence. With an established Group Finance function, the business is investing in process improvement, automation and AI to drive greater efficiency and strengthen financial controls.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Control, this is a hands-on role within Group Finance, responsible for supporting accurate month-end reporting, balance sheet integrity and continuous improvement across finance processes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage month-end activities including accruals, prepayments, intercompany, revenue recognition and deferred revenue
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of outstanding items
• Manage the relationship with an offshore shared services provider, reviewing journals and reconciliations
• Support year-end statutory reporting, financial statement disclosures and external audit requirements
• Assist with sustainability reporting and other Group Finance deliverables
• Review trial balances, ensuring accurate financial reporting and appropriate controls
• Drive process improvements, automation and AI initiatives across recurring finance activities

About You

You will be a technically strong finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively, takes ownership of deliverables and has a genuine interest in improving finance processes.

Ideally, you will bring:

• CA/CPA qualification with 3+ years' relevant financial accounting experience
• Strong technical accounting knowledge across month-end, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience with revenue recognition, intercompany transactions and deferred revenue
• Exposure to statutory reporting, financial statements and external audit
• Experience working with offshore or shared services finance teams
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and attention to detail
• Demonstrated process improvement experience, with an interest in automation and AI tools
