Job summary

East Partnership in Sydney is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. You will own month-end reporting, ensure balance sheet integrity and uphold statutory compliance within a leading financial services business.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will manage journals, accruals and reconciliations, support monthly management reporting and year-end statements, and contribute to tax compliance (GST/BAS, FBT, payroll tax) and continuous improvement of financial controls.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
• CA/CPA qualification or progress toward qualification preferred.
• Strong technical accounting capability and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with GST, FBT and payroll tax compliance is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Own key month-end activities including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support monthly management reporting, year-end financial statements and external audit requirements.
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet.
• Contribute to cash flow forecasting, financial analysis, systems enhancement, process automation and improvement of financial controls.

A little different from our usual wheelhouse, we’re excited to be partnering on this Senior Financial Accountant opportunity within a leading financial services business.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role will provide critical support across financial reporting, governance and compliance, with responsibility for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet.

The role will take ownership of key month-end activities including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations, while supporting monthly management reporting, year-end financial statements and external audit requirements. There will also be meaningful exposure to tax compliance, including GST and BAS preparation, FBT calculations and annual returns, payroll tax lodgements and associated reconciliations. Beyond core reporting, the successful candidate will contribute to cash flow forecasting, financial analysis, systems enhancement, process automation and the ongoing improvement of financial controls.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 4-7 years of relevant accounting experience and a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with CA/CPA qualification or progress toward qualification preferred. Strong technical accounting capability, advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial systems are required. Prior exposure to GST, FBT and payroll tax compliance will be highly regarded, alongside demonstrated experience across month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting and audit support.
