Job summary

CareerMode is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to own the financial accounting function within a well-established manufacturing business in Brisbane. You will lead a small transactional finance team of three, manage month-end and year-end closes, and drive robust governance and controls.

The role also covers statutory reporting, taxation compliance and external audit coordination, with opportunities to implement process improvements across finance systems and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end financial accounting including month-end close.
• Supervising, mentoring or leading transactional finance team members.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, GL management and reconciliations.
• Experience with statutory reporting and taxation compliance.
• Capability coordinating external audits with auditors and advisers.
• Proven governance, internal controls and accounting policy experience.

Responsibilities

CareerMode has been exclusively engaged to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant to join a well-established manufacturing business. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the financial accounting function, drive robust financial processes, and to lead and have the support of a small transactional finance team of 3.

The role

Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will oversee all aspects of financial accounting, including month-end and year-end close, general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory reporting, taxation compliance, external audit coordination, governance and internal controls.

Overseeing the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial results.

Managing the general ledger, journal entries, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.

Preparing and reviewing financial statements and statutory reporting requirements.

Managing taxation compliance obligations, including GST, income tax and other relevant statutory requirements.

Coordinating external audits and managing relationships with external auditors and other professional advisers.

Maintaining robust financial governance, internal controls and accounting policies.

Leading, mentoring and developing a team of three across transactional finance activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Providing technical accounting guidance, reviewing work and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and reporting efficiency.

Partnering with internal stakeholders to support sound financial decision-making and operational performance.

About you

CA or CPA qualification

Demonstrated experience in a Financial Accountant or Senior Financial Accountant role, with exposure to end-to-end financial accounting

Experience supervising, mentoring or leading transactional team members

Strong knowledge of month-end and year-end close, general ledger management and balance sheet reconciliations.

Experience with statutory reporting, taxation compliance and external audit coordination.
