Job summary

Carbon Revolution, based in Geelong, seeks a Senior Financial Accountant to join the Finance team. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, support governance, and maintain regulatory compliance while coordinating external audits and improving reporting processes.

The role requires a degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA/CA qualification (or in progress), and 5+ years of relevant experience with strong Excel and ERP systems skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting/Finance and professional qualification (CPA/CA or working towards).
• 5+ years' experience in financial reporting, audit, compliance or related finance role.
• Experience coordinating internal and/or external audits.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal preparation.
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements and disclosures.
• Prepare statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Monitor compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and internal policies.
• Maintain documentation of financial processes, controls, and procedures.
• Contribute to improvements in financial reporting systems and processes.
• Coordinate the annual external audit process and act as primary contact for auditors.
• Prepare audit files, schedules, and respond to queries.

We are currently looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Geelong. Reporting to our Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be integral to ensuring the accuracy of financial information, supporting robust governance practices, and maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

What you'll do

• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal preparation.
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements and accompanying disclosures.
• Prepare statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Monitor compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and internal policies.
• Maintain documentation of financial processes, controls, and procedures.
• Contribute to improvements in financial reporting systems and processes.

External Audit Coordination

• Manage and coordinate the annual external audit process.
• Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
• Prepare audit files, schedules, working papers, and supporting documentation.
• Reconcile financial statements and general ledger balances for audit purposes.
• Respond to audit queries and assist with resolving audit findings.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and reporting obligations.

What you'll bring

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification (completed or working towards).
• 5+ years' experience in financial reporting, audit, compliance, or a related finance role.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating internal and/or external audits.
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards (AASB/IFRS) and reporting requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP or financial systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical capability.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with auditors and senior stakeholders.
