Job summary

Sharp and Carter is seeking a dynamic finance professional to own the finance function for a growing manufacturing client. This hands-on role covers transactional processing through to month-end reporting and strategic input, working closely with operations and production teams to understand the numbers behind the business.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA qualified or qualified by experience.
• Proven all-rounder with transactional, management and strategic accounting.
• Manufacturing, inventory or costing experience preferred.
• Hands-on with month-end and balance sheet processes.
• Solid understanding of Australian tax and compliance.
• Strong Excel skills and ERP experience.
• Roll up sleeves attitude; capable of detail and strategy.
• Autonomous in a smaller business environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the finance function end-to-end, from transactional processing through to management reporting
• Manage month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and reporting to CFO
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
• Manage inventory and standard costing in a manufacturing environment
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections
• Handle BAS, FBT, payroll tax and other compliance obligations
• Liaise with external accountants/auditors for tax return and audit support
• Monitor working capital including stock, debtors and creditors
• Improve systems and processes as the business scales
• Get involved in operational finance issues as they arise

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you'll be responsible for everything from day-to-day transactions through to month-end reporting and strategic input. You'll work closely with operations and production teams to understand the numbers behind the business, not just report them.

What We Are Looking For:

You bring:

• CA/CPA qualified, or qualified by experience
• Proven all-rounder experience, comfortable across transactional, management and strategic accounting
• Manufacturing, inventory or costing experience highly regarded
• Hands-on experience managing month-end and balance sheet processes without a large support team
• Solid understanding of Australian tax and compliance requirements
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting/ERP systems
• A "roll up your sleeves" attitude, happy to do the detail work as well as the strategic thinking
• Comfortable working autonomously in a smaller business with less structure than a large corporate
