Job summary

Sharp & Carter in Brisbane seeks a capable Financial Accountant for a hands-on temporary assignment, with potential to become permanent in 2027. You will handle journals, month-end close, reconciliations, payroll support during peak periods, and contribute to process improvements using Pronto.

Collaborative finance team, exposure to corporate and site-based operations, and opportunities to support budgeting, compliance, and treasury activities.

Responsibilities

• Financial Accounting: Prepare and post journals, accruals and month-end adjustments, complete balance-sheet reconciliations and support timely month-end and year-end close processes.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare management reports, supporting schedules and variance analysis, assisting with statutory reporting, budgets and forecasts.
• Tax, Compliance & Audit: Support income tax, FBT and GST compliance, prepare audit schedules and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Treasury & Accounts Payable: Assist with cash-flow reporting, bank reconciliations, payment administration, supplier reconciliations and procurement processes.
• Payroll Support: Provide practical backup to the payroll team during busy periods and leave coverage, including payroll processing support, reconciliations, reporting and related accounting activities.
• Systems & Continuous Improvement: Utilise Pronto and other finance systems effectively, strengthen financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies.

About the Role

We are seeking a capable and motivated Financial Accountant to join our finance team, initially on a temp basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on, varied role and wants to contribute across financial reporting, month-end processes, compliance, treasury and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will play an important role in maintaining the integrity of financial information, supporting business performance and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Working within a collaborative well established finance team, you will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting activities and work closely with both corporate and site-based teams. The role also offers variety beyond traditional financial accounting, with opportunities to provide practical support to payroll during peak periods and leave coverage, contributing to the overall strength and flexibility of the finance function.
