Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Financial Accountant for an immediate start on a temp-to-perm basis in Victoria. You will own month-end close, reconciliations, and provide insight to support business decisions. You will collaborate with external auditors and manage depreciation, cash, and statutory reporting.

The role involves working with a high-performing finance function, offering development pathways and a hybrid work pattern (4 days in the office/1 day remote).

Qualifications

• Strong grounding in financial accounting fundamentals.
• Experience assisting audits and managing auditor queries.
• Ability to identify risks and anomalies on balance sheet and P&L.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end and year-end close activities including journals, accruals, prepayments and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve items timely.
• Partner with external auditors and provide supporting documentation.
• Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation accounting.
• Support cash management, bank reconciliations and bank guarantee admin.
• Assist statutory reporting, audits and compliance obligations.
• Collaborate with operational stakeholders for financial insights and decisions.
• Identify process, control and reporting improvements and automation opportunities.
• Support AP, AR and Payroll functions as required.
• Contribute to variance analysis and management reporting.
• Assist with system enhancements and finance process automation.

• Partner with external auditors, responding to audit queries and providing supporting documentation and analysis.


• Maintain the fixed asset register and manage depreciation accounting.


• Support cash management activities, including bank reconciliations and bank guarantee administration.


• Assist with statutory reporting, audit requirements and compliance obligations.


• Partner with operational stakeholders to provide financial insights and support business decision-making.


• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, systems and reporting efficiency.


• Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions as required.


• Contribute to financial analysis, variance investigations and management reporting.

Clear scope for permReport to an exceptional Finance Manager

• Part-qualified or qualified CA/CPA with a solid grounding in financial accounting fundamentals.


• Strong technical accounting skills, including journals, reconciliations, month-end processes and financial controls.


• Experience assisting with audits and confidently managing auditor queries and requests.


• Ability to identify risks and anomalies across the balance sheet and P&L, with strong attention to detail.


• Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills, with the ability to communicate with both finance and non-finance teams.


• Proactive and solutions-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset and interest in process optimisation.


• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and competing deadlines.


• Strong systems aptitude, ideally with exposure to ERP systems (Business Central ideal) and finance process automation.


• Team-oriented, hands-on and willing to support across the broader finance function when required.
