Job summary

CatholicCare Diocese Of Broken Bay is seeking a Level 5 Caseworker to join our Waitara team. The role involves managing a caseload of families, delivering trauma‑informed, family‑centred casework, and collaborating with DCJ and service systems to improve child safety outcomes.

Work is based in Waitara with a 5‑day week and a 6‑month probation; following probation, a flexible work‑from‑home option is provided to support work‑life balance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing casework interventions to children and families with complex needs.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Case Management within child protection.
• Demonstrated case management experience using a strength based, trauma informed, person centred approach that builds family capacity.
• High‑level engagement and assessment, including the ability to lead integrated response, collaborate across systems and maintain accountability for outcomes.
• Ability to produce high‑quality case notes, reports and written communication.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement & problem‑solving skills.
• NSW Driver’s Licence and insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Independently engage with families in complex and resistant situations, building trust through respectful, transparent and consistent practice.
• Complete comprehensive, whole‑of‑family assessments that analyse complexity beyond merely presenting the issues and articulate defensible professional judgement.
• Co‑design a single, integrated Family Plan that aligns family‑identified goals with child safety and well‑being priorities.
• Define clear actions, responsibilities, and timeframes across systems, promoting strengths, sustainability and reduced service dependency.
• Delivers practical, relational, and therapeutic supports over extended periods, adapting interventions as family needs change.
• Maintain flexible availability aligned to family needs, including after‑hours support when required.
• Maintain high‑quality, timely, and defensible case records and reports that clearly document risk, professional decision‑making and outcomes for review by DCJ and internal forums.
