Job summary

Australian Department of Defence – Penrith NSW is seeking an experienced APS 6 Engineer Professional Explosive Ordnance to lead complex engineering work across the defence materiel lifecycle and deliver technical solutions that support safe, effective capability outcomes.

Based in Penrith, you will manage a team, engage stakeholders, provide expert technical advice, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and contribute to strategic planning within GWEO Systems Division.

Qualifications

• Experience in explosive ordnance engineering or closely related discipline.
• Ability to interpret and apply engineering policies and standards.
• Leadership experience, mentoring and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team, setting priorities and delivering outcomes.
• Perform complex explosive ordnance engineering activities and provide advice.
• Investigate defects, risks, and requirements in ordnance engineering.
• Develop and implement recommendations to address issues and improve capability.
• Ensure materiel complies with policy, safety and regulatory frameworks.
• Incorporate safety considerations into all activities.
• Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and program management.
• Coach, mentor and assure quality of outputs; manage stakeholder relationships.
