Job summary

Peak Partners Recruitment Pty Ltd. is seeking a Senior Exploration Geologist for a Central NSW operation. The role combines field execution with data interpretation, leading a geologist team and mentoring junior staff.

You will interpret geoscientific data, develop exploration targets, and manage expenditures while collaborating with site leadership and contractors to shape the project’s exploration direction.

The Company

Peak Partners is exclusively partnered with an established mining company undertaking an exciting exploration program at their operation in Central NSW. This growing team offers a collaborative environment with strong support from site leadership, and genuine opportunities to shape the exploration direction of the project.

The Role

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Senior Exploration Geologist is accountable for the ongoing interpretation of geoscientific data and the efficient and effective field execution of exploration programs. You will lead the exploration project team, generate new exploration initiatives, and mentor a group of geologists in applying sound exploration practices to identify and assess quality exploration targets.

The role is primarily field based during active exploration programs, with office based work between campaigns involving program planning and review of previously completed field data. Your key responsibilities will be, but not limited to:

• Managing and executing the technical aspects of field exploration programs, including improving operating efficiency without compromising data quality
• Presenting high quality geoscientific interpretation to support drill target generation
• Developing exploration models through the collection and interpretation of accurate geological data
• Supervising, training and mentoring Project Geologists and Geotechnicians
• Liaising with drilling and geophysics contractors and project site landholders
• Managing exploration expenditure within delegated budget authority

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Possess

• A tertiary qualification in earth science or a related discipline (essential)
• A minimum of ten years exploration experience across a variety of environments (essential)
• Strong spatial awareness with the ability to view and describe geology in three dimensions
• A collaborative approach and the ability to maintain a positive team environment
• Membership of a professional organisation such as the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (desirable)
• A commitment to ongoing self learning and building geological and technical knowledge
