Job summary

SA Health - Southern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a senior Exercise Physiologist to champion evidence-based rehabilitation within a multidisciplinary mental health setting. The role emphasizes high autonomy, leadership and clinical excellence in delivering tailored exercise physiology interventions to adults with complex needs.

Reporting to the Allied Health Manager - MHRU, you will lead services, supervise staff, and contribute to program evaluation across MH Rehabilitation

Qualifications

• Degree in human movement with ESSA accreditation.
• Experience with adults with severe mental illness.
• Ability to lead Exercise Physiology services in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience delivering rehab services across illnesses and disabilities.
• Clinical leadership and program evaluation experience.

• Salary $112,139.00 - $120,284.00 p.a. (Pro Rata) AHP3 | Full-Time Contract until October 2027

Stepinto a senior, high-autonomy clinical role for an experienced practitioner ready to champion the value of exercise physiology within a multidisciplinary mental health setting and translate evidence into lasting, meaningful change for the people who need it most.

About the role:

Reporting to the Allied Health Manager - MHRU, this role is responsible for providing specialist clinical exercise physiology services, leadership and supervision across SALHN Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (MHRS).

Duties for the role will include:

• Commitment to delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the SALHN Integrated Governance Framework and Consumer Engagement Framework and Plan.
• Deliver high quality, Exercise Physiology rehabilitation services and interventions that meet the needs and preferences of consumers, families and carers and align with best practice evidence.
• Collaborating with other team members to initiate, develop, implement, and evaluate therapy/activity groups.
• Review, and make recommendations, develop and implement workflow processes and quality assurance processes to improve practice and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
• Providing leadership, training, and support across the MH Rehabilitation Stream to support integration of best-practice rehabilitation across the continuum of care.

About you:

• Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification, usually in human movement, inclusive of the exercise physiology elective and eligible for accreditation from Exercise Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
• Demonstrated competence in the application of a wide range of assessment and therapeutic interventions to clients with complex needs, in particular adult consumers with severe mental illness.
• Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility for and the provision of Exercise Physiology services to an area as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Extensive experience in the provision of clinical exercise physiology services to clients within a broad range of illnesses and disabilities.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership within a discrete unit, including program evaluation and service development.
