Job summary

Clayton Utz is seeking an Events Adviser who can shape and deliver high impact events for clients and internal teams across the firm in Sydney. You will manage a personal portfolio and partner with Partners, lawyers and clients to design run sheets, venues, audiences and formats.

The role embraces new technology, HubSpot integration, data insights and AI to improve planning and learning from events. Flexibility for early starts or evening events is part of the job, with autonomy to turn briefs

Qualifications

• Around four years or more working in corporate events, ideally in professional services or another complex environment.
• You know what makes an event work and can spot the difference between what someone has asked for and what they might actually need.
• You can contribute ideas and advice, then get into the detail required to deliver them.

Responsibilities

• Own your events: Take events from the first conversation through planning, delivery and follow‑up.
• Shape the approach: Work with Partners and teams to understand what they are trying to achieve and help determine the right audience, format and experience.
• Bring ideas: Look beyond what we have done before and suggest different formats, venues or approaches where they will produce a better result.
• Manage the detail: Build event plans and run sheets, manage invitations and registrations, coordinate internal teams and keep the moving parts under control.
• Manage suppliers and budgets: Source and negotiate with venues and suppliers, manage contracts and keep spend on track.
• Lead on the day: Take responsibility for delivery and deal calmly with the things that inevitably change at the last minute.
• Develop partnerships: Help identify and manage sponsorships and external partnerships that support the firm’s events and broader objectives.
• Use insight and technology: Help us get more from HubSpot, our event technology, data and emerging tools, and use what we learn to improve future events.
• Contribute beyond events: Take a role in broader national Clients and Markets projects and business development initiatives.
• Support the team: Help other members of the Events team when workloads demand it.
