Job summary

UGL Pty Limited in its Utilities Division seeks a Senior Electrical Estimator based in Brisbane or Sydney to build cost estimates for substation and transmission tenders using CATS and related estimating tools.

You will collaborate with internal experts and suppliers to gather pricing, complete final tender submissions, and ensure compliance with record-keeping and procedures. A degree or diploma in engineering and 5+ years in project estimation are highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or diploma desirable for the role.
• Minimum 5 years in project-related disciplines, preferably electrical.
• Experience with estimation software such as CATS; CCS or Expert Estimation desirable.
• Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to adapt, learn quickly and apply new skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate cost estimates for materials, subcontractor and labour pricing.
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to gather information for tenders.
• Maintain contact with suppliers/subcontractors to ensure pricing and availability.
• Complete final pricing submissions for presentation to the client.

Our capabilities cover everything from engineering and structural works to civil, electrical installation, and commissioning.To date, we’ve successfully delivered over 7,300 km of transmission lines and completed more than 300 substation projects—and we’re just getting started!The roleAs the Senior Electrical Estimator within UGL's Utilities Division, you can be based in either our Brisbane or Sydney office. You will be responsible for providing estimating expertise for current tenders and proposals ensuring they are accurate and timely. You will be responsible for building estimates for substation and transmission line tenders, utilising UGL’s estimating software, CATS.What will a day in this role look like:• Provide accurate cost estimates for materials, subcontractor and labour pricing• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to gather information in preparation for tenders• Maintain regular contact with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure pricing and product availability are up to date and accurate• Complete final pricing submission for presentation to the client• Consult with operational departments to determine the accuracy of tenders won and completed• Ensure compliance is adhered to for all record-keeping associated with the tender• Recommend and update procedures and programs to improve the estimating function• Provide cost advice to our current projectsThe following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.
