Job summary

APA Group is seeking a Senior Estimator to develop and deliver capital estimates for major power, renewable or gas projects in Australia. Reporting to the Head of Estimating, you will lead estimation activities for the Infrastructure Development team on a full-time basis.

The role requires first-principles estimating from drawings and specs, experience across development and tendering, and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating with engineers, contractors and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering capital estimates for large-scale infrastructure, energy, utilities or related projects.
• Ability to develop detailed cost estimates directly from drawings, specifications and scope documentation.
• Experience preparing and reviewing estimates across development, business case and tendering stages.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including risk assessment and contingencies.
• Familiarity with estimating methodologies and industry standards (AACE or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed capital estimates based on scopes, programs and delivery methodologies.
• Advise project managers and staff on staffing and project requirements for new projects.
• Maintain database of actual costs, unit rates, suppliers and sub-contractors for best-value pricing.
• Lead risk reviews to quantify contingencies and document risk mitigation.
• Build and maintain relationships with project teams, engineers, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
