Job summary

Gamuda Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator - Renewables to join our Pre-Contracts & Tenders team. You will lead first-principles, resource-based estimating, technical cost modelling, and pricing strategies for major utility-scale renewables bids ($100M–$500M+).

You will work on solar PV, BESS architecture, wind farm balance of plant, and HV grid connection infrastructure under EPC and D&C delivery models, collaborating with our Estimating Manager and Renewables Lead.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Civil, Renewable Energy Engineering, QS, or Construction Management.
• 7+ years estimating experience in a Tier 1/2 contractor or EPC.
• Experience with first-principles cost models for large renewables.
• Proficient in estimating software (Expert Estimation, Candy, Benchmark) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Build detailed, resource-based cost models for PV, BESS, wind BOP, and HV substations.
• Source and evaluate Tier-1 OEM market quotes for modules, inverters, BESS, wind turbines, transformers.
• Interpret drawings and reports to prepare WBS/CBS and BoQs.
• Prepare RFQs for civil, structural, and electrical subcontractors; perform price normalization and gap analysis.
• Lead quantitative risk modelling, contingency sizing, and escalation analysis for bid reviews.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator - Renewables to join our Pre-Contracts & Tenders team. Working closely with our Estimating Manager and Renewables Lead, you will lead first-principles, resource-based estimating, technical cost modelling, and pricing strategies for major utility-scale renewable energy bids ($100M–$500M+). This role spans solar PV, BESS architecture, wind farm balance of plant (BOP), and HV grid connection infrastructure under EPC and D&C delivery models.

Key Responsibilities

• Build detailed, resource-bottom-up cost models (labour, plant, materials, subcontracts) for PV solar arrays, BESS, wind civil/electrical BOP, and HV substations.
• Source and evaluate Tier-1 OEM market quotes for PV modules, inverters, BESS enclosures, wind turbines, and power transformers.
• Interpret RFT drawings, single-line diagrams, and yield reports to compile Work Breakdown Structures (WBS/CBS) and complete Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
• Prepare trade package RFQs for civil, structural, and electrical subcontractors, conducting technical price normalization and scope gap analysis.
• Lead quantitative risk modelling, contingency sizing, and escalation analysis for executive management bid review presentations.

Skills and Experience

• Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Renewable Energy Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
• 7+ years estimating experience within a Tier 1/2 contractor or EPC, delivering first-principles cost models for major utility-scale renewables projects ($100M+).
• Advanced proficiency in first principles estimating software (e.g. Expert Estimation, Candy, or Benchmark) and complex MS Excel cost models.
• Strong expertise in solar PV balance of plant, BESS system architecture, HV substation pricing, equipment lead times, and EPC/D&C contract structures.
