Job summary

Gamuda Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking an Engineering Manager (Renewables) to lead technical authority across solar, wind and BESS portfolios in Australia. Based in Melbourne CBD, you will oversee FEED, design reviews and OEM technology selection for EPC projects, ensuring safe, compliant and cost-effective outcomes.

Reporting to the Renewables Sector Lead, you will coordinate electrical, HV, civil and SCADA disciplines, engage with external consultancies, and drive risk mitigation and value

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Renewable Energy, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (CPEng / RPEQ highly regarded).
• 8+ years of engineering leadership experience delivering utility-scale solar, wind, or BESS projects under EPC/D&C models.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering management, FEED studies, and technical deliverables across solar, wind, and BESS developments and EPC contracts.
• Direct technical evaluations, design reviews, and specifications for Tier-1 OEMs, inverter manufacturers, and battery suppliers.
• Interface with internal power systems teams, AEMO, and NSPs to oversee grid studies, GPS compliance, and registration requirements.
• Coordinate engineering disciplines across electrical, HV transmission, civil, structural, and SCADA/automation.
• Partner with tender and estimating teams to provide technical inputs, constructability reviews, and value engineering for major bids.
• Engage and direct external engineering consultancies to ensure design quality, safety-in-design, and schedule compliance.

About the Role

An opportunity is now available for an Engineering Manager (Renewables) – preferably based in our Melbourne CBD office. Reporting to the Melbourne-based Renewables Sector Lead, you will provide core technical authority across our portfolio of utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS projects. In this key technical authority role, you will oversee engineering design, FEED studies, OEM technology selection, and grid integration from early concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead engineering management, FEED studies, and technical deliverables across solar, wind, and BESS developments and EPC contracts.

Direct technical evaluations, design reviews, and specifications for Tier-1 OEMs, inverter manufacturers, and battery suppliers.

Interface with internal power systems teams, AEMO, and NSPs to oversee grid studies, GPS compliance, and registration requirements.

Coordinate engineering disciplines across electrical, HV transmission, civil, structural, and SCADA/automation.

Skills and Experience:

Degree in Electrical, Renewable Energy, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (CPEng / RPEQ highly regarded).

8+ years of engineering leadership experience delivering utility-scale solar, wind, or BESS projects under EPC/D&C models.

Strong expertise across PV plant design, BESS architecture, HV substations, wind turbines, and balance of plant (BOP).

Deep understanding of NEM connection processes, AEMO generator registration, and grid standards.

Proven ability to manage technical risks, evaluate complex engineering packages, and drive cost-effective technical solutions.
