Job summary

Senior Scientist Environmental Forensics at DCCEEW in Lidcombe will lead complex forensic and analytical chemistry projects to support environmental investigations and policy decisions. You will analyse pollutants in environmental matrices, design robust investigations and provide expert scientific advice to inform management and regulation.

This role requires collaboration with government, academia and industry, delivering high-impact science and developing innovative tools for emerging

Qualifications

Chemistry or Environmental science tertiary qualifications, well-developed knowledge and experience in developing and delivering rigorous science projects in environmental forensics and analytical chemistry with a speciality in organic chemistry.
Experience in working collaboratively with a team and stakeholders to deliver customer focused results from science projects.
Experience in project management including budgets, allocation of resources, and ability to report on results achieved.

Responsibilities

Deliver complex environmental forensics and analytical chemistry projects that characterise pollutants and identify sources.
Undertake investigations, analyse data and provide specialist advice to support environmental programs and decision-making.
Collaborate with DCCEEW, EPA, universities and research partners to develop knowledge and evidence-based solutions.
Lead research and innovation projects for emerging chemical pollutants and new forensic tools.
