Job summary

Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) seeks a Senior Scientist Environmental Forensics to deliver complex forensic analyses and analytical chemistry projects supporting environmental protection across NSW. The role requires design and execution of rigorous investigations, data interpretation, and delivery of evidence-based guidance to stakeholders.

You will work with colleagues across DCCEEW, the EPA, universities and partners to advance scientific knowledge

Qualifications

• Chemistry or Environmental science degree with experience in environmental forensics and analytical chemistry.
• Speciality in organic chemistry and rigorous scientific methods.
• Ability to design and deliver investigations and interpret complex data.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complex environmental forensics and analytical chemistry projects to characterise pollutants.
• Undertake scientific investigations, analyse data and provide specialist advice.
• Collaborate with DCCEEW, EPA, universities and researchers to produce evidence-based outcomes.
• Lead research on emerging pollutants and develop new forensic tools.
