Job summary

SLR Consulting Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an entry-level HAZMAT Consultant to join our Occupational Hygiene and Hazardous Materials team in Sydney. This full-time role offers a chance to work with a local team while collaborating with colleagues nationwide.

You will gain hands-on experience with asbestos inspections, air monitoring, sampling plans and exposure assessments, with training and development supported by SLR. Occasional regional travel is required.

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel regularly and adapt with flexible work arrangements (regional travel).
• Resource and/or heavy industry exposure or related study.
• Valid driver's license (C class manual advantageous).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Competent with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Australian citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
• Interest in OHHM with commitment to ongoing learning and development.

SLR has a opportunity for an entry-level/graduate to join our Occupational Hygiene and Hazardous Materials (OHHM) team as a HAZMAT Consultant. This is a full-time position based out of our Sydney office, where you will be working with a great local team as well as collaborating with a wider team in other locations throughout Australia. This role will suit entry level candidates that although may not have direct experience in the industry, have an interest or are keen to build a career in consulting alongside a team of industry leaders and work on the field, meet clients and develop technically.

Responsibilities

• Asbestos Clearance Inspections
• Asbestos Inspections, Sampling and Surveying
• Asbestos Air Monitoring and Fibre Counting (with NATA training provided)
• Occupational exposure monitoring for hazards including dust, diesel particulate matter, welding fumes, noise, asbestos fibres and chemicals.
• Developing sampling plans.
• Respirator and hearing protection fit testing.
• Reviewing sample data and entering it into company databases.
• Conducting field task observations.
• Providing accurate and reliable data for technical reports and proposals.
• Contributing to SLR projects.
• Regional travel will be required.

Skills and Experience

• Ability to travel regularly and be flexible with work arrangements.
• Resource and/or heavy industry experience or exposure through study.
• A valid driver's licence (a C class manual drivers’ licence is advantageous).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Competent computer skills in Microsoft, particularly Excel and Word.
• The ability to work well autonomously and under supervision.
• Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
• You will have keen interest in OHHM and be driven to continue ongoing learning and development where SLR will support training to support your progression.

Desirable

• Able to communicate information to technical and non-technical personnel
• Experience working on a mine site
• Experience with asbestos management and/or removal

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Chemistry, OHS, Science, Nursing/Medical and/or Environmental disciplines.
